HACKER is an articraft marble collection presented at Milano Design Week 2019 in the suggestive location of Alcova Popoli Uniti.
Starting from the physical features of the marble and relying on the knowledge and ability of Manuel Coltri, the attempt was to hackering the classical manner to increase the potential of the material working with its discards.
Despite the hardness of the material, marble slabs are subjected to complex and articulated treatments: they are combined, cut, recomposed and sectioned again in a potentially never-ending process till the achievement of the perfect block, thanks to the unique and unrepeatable nature of each piece.
The marble typologies implied are the white marble of Carrara and the lava stone from the mountains of the center of Italy, the rainbow and green onyxes and the semi-precious lapis lazuli.
HACKER è una collezione di artefatti in marmo presentata in occasione della Milano Design Week 2019, presso Alcova in Via Popoli Uniti.
Affidandosi all’esperienza e all’abilità di Manuel Coltri e partendo dalle proprietà fisiche del marmo, si è cercato di “hackerare” la lavorazione classica, per espanderne le possibilità agendo sui relativi scarti, lastre altrimenti inutilizzate.
A dispetto della durezza del materiale, le lastre di marmo sono sottoposte a trattamenti complessi: vengono combinate, tagliate, ricomposte e ri-sezionate in un processo che potrebbe durare all’infinito, fino a ottenere il blocco perfetto, perchè irripetibile e diverso da quello successivo.
I marmi utilizzati sono il bianco di Carrara e la pietra lavica, gli onici arcobaleno e verde e il semiprezioso lapis lazuli.
